Julia Ayala Harris

VII Oklahoma

We face a shortened timeline between the 80th and 81st General Conventions. I am uniquely positioned to lead as the next president of the House of Deputies because, as chair of an Executive Council Joint Standing Committee, I am already working alongside our presiding officers to make decisions. I feel called to serve our church in this pivotal time. I have more than two decades of experience working in the nonprofit sector and I hold a Master's of Public Administration. I currently study church collaboration and leadership identity as a doctoral student. I have both breadth and depth of perspective on the challenges organizations face in these uncertain times. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to use my gifts as a deputy from the Diocese of Oklahoma; on Executive Council; as chair of the Legislative Committee on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Exploitation, & Safeguarding; and the Presiding Officer's Working Group on Truth-Telling, Reckoning, and Healing, among other positions.
