Ryan Kusumoto

VIII Hawaii

I serve as the CEO of a large social service organization in Hawai`i that focuses on issues of domestic violence, child abuse, mental health, poverty, and early learning. I've been active in the Church since my youth and have held the positions of General Convention Deputy, Church Pension Fund Trustee, Vestry member, and a member of Diocesan Council. I'm grateful for these experiences which ground me on my guiding values: Passionate Curiosity: to relentlessly seek what I don't know and raise up all voices especially those that have been marginalized. Humility: in Hawaiian it's called Ha`aha`a - the idea that we lead every interaction from the foundation of unconditional positive regard and that everyone's thoughts matter. Authenticity:  it's the essence of Aloha - that we are always honest and loving with one another. As you consider the next PHoD, my prayers go out to all those who offer their gifts for this position. It would be an honor to walk alongside all of you in this journey.
